Another Chance

Judges (16:22)

“However, the hair on his head began to grow back again after it had been shaven.”

There’s nothing worse than the regret of blowing an opportunity or a moment. Failure will linger around for days, months, and even years. This eerie feeling can seep into your worship and clog up the portal as you begin to worship the God of could’ve, would’ve, and should’ve. The voices from those foreign gods are loud and they constantly tell you that you will never have it like that again.

But those voices are lying to you. Samson had a weakness for women and that weakness trapped him and put him in a place of giving up the secret to his power. As a result, his eyes were put out and he became a grinder in the prison under the ruler of the Philistines. But scripture says that the hair on his head began to grow back again. We must understand as we study deeper that Samson was a Nazarite from the womb. (Judges 13:5) This vow was upon his life and as a seal of dedication and expression, no razor was to touch his head. (Numbers 6:5) So, the Glory of his strength was NOT in his hair but in the vow. The fact that his hair began to grow back was directly related to the fact that the vow remained, and God didn’t change His mind even though he had failed miserably.

You too may have failed in an area, missed the mark, and it caused you to experience failure and hardship. Maybe your temper got the best of you again and you said something that ruined your opportunity. Maybe God blessed you with some money for a specific task and you blew it on something else and now you are in regret. Perhaps you are no longer in a relationship that you took for granted and the person has finally moved on. I want to encourage you to forget those things which are behind you and move forward into the new. God still has a vow over your head to bless you and work all things together for good for you. Repent and get in alignment with God’s will and stay humble before Him as He leads you to a comeback just as the lad led Samson between the two pillars. He experienced a great rebound and the greatest victory of his life. The same can happen to you if you get your head out of the past and put it back into now and move forward with a hope in the mercy of God.
